Carbon 2.0 - Carbon Pricing and the Transition from Voluntary to Mandatory Markets

The increasing level of greenhouse gases, especially CO2, in the atmosphere is driving major change in the direction of global environmental policy. It is likely that within the next Presidential Administration the United States will implement some form of federal cap and trade regulatory system. Such a system will cap allowable CO2 emissions while allowing market forces to price, finance, and identify the least cost solutions to reduce CO2 emissions. Shifting to a new carbon market will create opportunities for new innovations, both in products and financial services, impacting the largest CO2 emitters – the transportation and electricity generation sectors – as well as every household and business. Please join the CleanTX Forum on March 12th to hear a panel of leading experts discuss carbon pricing and the economic opportunities created by the anticipated mandatory reductions in CO2 emissions. Panelists will address many of the leading questions around this disruptive policy, the market challenges and the opportunities, including:

1. How will the transition from a voluntary carbon market to a mandatory compliance market spur innovation and shape the future energy economy?
2. What global / regional carbon markets exist today and how have they evolved?
3. Who will be the winners / losers?
4. What technologies will benefit?
5. What opportunities exist for Austin and Texas?
