Thank You For Making TREIA Member Response on Puerto Rico Crisis Luncheon a Success

On June 1st, 2018, TREIA members shared their personal experiences on working with FEMA, PREPA, and other mainland utilities and energy companies that came to provide assistance to Puerto Rico. After being provided with that context, attendees enjoyed a dynamic conversation on some of the socioeconomic and political undercurrents that affected the vulnerability of the grid in Puerto Rico, lessons learned for us here on the mainland, and lessons that can be applied as we move into hurricane season once again.

TREIA is grateful for the efforts of everyone that made personal sacrifices to restore power to the millions of Puerto Ricans affected by the hurricanes.

In September 2017, hurricanes Irma and Maria hit Puerto Rico, destroying the island's electric grid and leaving 3.4 Million residents in complete darkness. After months of work, restoration efforts are still on going. Utilities and electric companies from main land, including many TRIEA members, provided extensive support in restoring power to distressed fellow Americans on the island. Join us to hear Austin Energy and Younicos present their work in Puerto Rico and discuss the lessons learned for preparing Texas grid to withstand similar disasters.
