Zack Overfield serves as HDR’s Cultural Resources Practice Leader for the South Central Region and is a Senior Archaeologist and Principal Investigator. With over 13 years of expertise in cultural resource management, Zack specializes in guiding projects through complex environmental compliance processes, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Clean Water Act, and National Historic Preservation Act, among other regulations.

He has led major archaeological investigations for utility-scale solar and wind energy projects across Texas, Nebraska, and the Southeast, balancing environmental compliance with the advancement of renewable energy development. Passionate about preserving cultural heritage while enabling a clean energy future, Zack is committed to the integration of archaeology and sustainable practices.

Zack earned a Master’s in Anthropology from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Bachelor’s in Sociology with an Anthropology emphasis from Stephen F. Austin State University. He is a Registered Professional Archaeologist and an active member of the Council of Texas Archaeologists.
