Cheryl Mele has worked in the electric energy industry for more than 30 years, leading the transition to a smarter, more efficient and more renewable grid. Most recently she was the SVP and COO at ERCOT, prior to that Mele spent 25 years at Austin Energy where she was the Deputy General Manager and COO responsible for all aspects of transmission and distribution, power generation, energy market operations, compliance programs and strategic planning. She started her career at General Electric in the Power Systems division.
Current non-profit community service includes serving on the Boards of the Association of Women in Energy, the Austin Science Education Foundation, and the Boy Scouts of America Capital Area Council. She is also an advisory member to Pecan Street Inc.
Cheryl is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of Union College, Schenectady, NY, attended the Utility Executive course at University of Idaho and is registered Professional Engineer in Texas.
